I’m on paternity leave (and struggling through serious sleep deprivation!), but I wanted to pass on word of the Nation magazine’s “30 Media Heroes” contest. You can vote in the contest here by either leaving a comment at the bottom with your votes, sending a Tweet to @GregMitch, or sending an email to [email protected].

Obviously, I hope you’ll consider voting for some OpenLeft writers, but, of course, there are a ton of great progressive media voices out there to choose from. So just make sure to vote, no matter who you vote for.

Here are the leaders in the contest as of this morning, but more votes are still expected to come in. Voting ends tonight – so again, go vote!

It's a hot competition, lots of worthy contenders. (0.00 / 0)

Look, Ellen deGeneris doesn’t even seem to hhave made the list yet! Ok, she doesn’t run a political show, but imho she subliminal influenced the public a lot towards more Progressive views. And yet, no love from the lefties. And long term left wing credentials aparently don’t count for much, either, or else Seymour Hersh would rank higher. Good ole Joe Galloway isn’t even mentioned. Really a hot comptetition!

Julian Assange, of course (0.00 / 0)

Everyone else is competing for second place, or should be.

sleep? no, you’re not going to get any of that for a while. heh. i have new twin nephews, and i recently visited their home. wow, what a hot mess that is turning out to be! at least they are normal and healthy, for all sis was a tad too old to be doing that mothering thing again.

media “heroes?” i guess i’m a tad cold to the idea. i know there are some, but i bet if i click that link, very few of the ones i know will be on it. but i love my OL peeps for all i disagree with them, and if they let me, i will vote for y’all.
